Optimize Your Health with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in Minneapolis, MN

  • Anyone will benefit from Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). We offer a wheelchair-accessible soft chamber, known as a mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (mHBOT), which does not require a doctor’s prescription.

  • This therapy is often used for severe or chronic illness however, athletes and those with mild conditions regularly use HBOT for its healing potential for optimizing health and performance.

HBOT involves sitting in a high-pressure oxygen chamber. The oxygen-rich air drives up to 1200% more oxygen through the lungs into the bloodstream and other fluids, super-saturating the body with oxygen to drive the regeneration of damaged tissue, strengthen the immune system, and provide the body with greater opportunity for healing.

Prevent Tissue Loss with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Near You

The pressured chamber in HBOT saturates your blood plasma (the liquid in the blood), which has very little oxygen in it at sea level. Plasma has an unending capacity for oxygen, not bound by red blood cells, to be delivered to where it’s needed in the body. This increased oxygen delivery to damaged tissue areas will prevent tissues from dying. This therapy also creates more water around blood and lymphatic vessels to support the release of toxins.

Want to experience mHBOT? START HERE

Step 1 - Read below the Common Questions and review Contraindications here. If you have questions ahead of your first appointment, please contact Founder Kristin Burich.

Step 2 - Schedule an appointment by choosing “First Time Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy” under “Healing Therapies”. The first appointment is two hours.

Step 3 - On the day of your first appointment, you will have a consultation with one of our experienced practitioners, fill out relevant paperwork, and provided a personalized protocol based on your needs. This includes the number of sessions, length and frequency. After your first appointment, session times are 90 minutes or two hours. For more chronic conditions, multiple sessions are often the most effective approach. Regular maintenance sessions are impactful for optimizing athletic performance, health maintenance, and more mild, acute conditions.

Session Tips

  1. Wear comfortable clothing in the chamber. You will be laying down in the chamber.

  2. Use the bathroom before getting in the chamber.

  3. Bring a water bottle.

  4. Consider meditating and deep breathing during your session. You will be wearing an oxygen nasal cannula to deliver 95%+ more oxygen for additional benefits.

  5. Bring gum to help clear the ears if required.

No soft drink or sharp objects are permitted in the chamber.

  • The pressurization in the hyperbaric chamber may provide additional benefits to highly bioavailable supplements. Examples would be Liposomal Vitamins, Neprinol AFD (sold in-store), or alkaline/structured water.

  • If you’ve had a recent injury, don’t wait for treatment. The faster you can get into an HBOC when you’ve had an injury the more quickly you will heal. Why? The tissue downstream from damaged tissue will stay oxygenated and won’t die off.

  • Our chamber is wheelchair-accessible or it fits up to two individuals laying down.

  • One child is permitted when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Common Questions about Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

What is HBOT?

HBOT stands for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. During HBOT your body is effectively saturated with oxygen, an essential element used by your body for healing. HBOT provides oxygen to cells and tissues that suffer from a lack of oxygen. Healing tissues suffering from hypoxia are unable to heal themselves as effectively as when they have oxygen. Most cells in areas of swelling or other types of injury are suffering from hypoxia. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy also boosts the abilities of the immune system by accelerating the creation of new white blood cells, the sentinel of the bloodstream.

How Does HBOT Work?

During HBOT, the patient is placed in a chamber that allows the body to be brought to greater-than-normal atmospheric pressure. Under this greater-than-normal atmospheric pressure, the patient breathes 100% oxygen, which first fills the red blood cells in the bloodstream, then continues to flow into the bloodstream and is absorbed directly into the plasma (one of the components of blood). The increased atmospheric pressure facilitates oxygen absorption. The dissolved oxygen in the plasma is more readily available for use by the cells in the body, as little is required to remove the oxygen from the red blood cells. HBOT is a process that floods the body with oxygen so that it may more readily heal itself.

What Effect Does HBOT Have On Healing?

HBOT provides the cells with a boost of oxygen to help the healing process. Oxygen is better able to reach cells that are suffering from hypoxia because of blocked or damaged capillaries (smaller blood vessels that are the last link in the circulatory system to deliver oxygen to cells). Healing is often accelerated by 30%-50% or more (this will vary depending on illness and condition).

Why Hasn't My Doctor Recommended HBOT To Me Earlier?

Hyperbaric medicine is not taught in most medical schools. As part of their continuing education doctors are often overwhelmed with information about the number of treatments available for various conditions. Pharmaceutical companies advertise by sending doctors information regarding their products. As hyperbarics is a commodity, there is no central organization that sends physicians information regarding hyperbaric treatment. Thus, in order for doctors to learn about the healing possibilities of hyperbaric oxygen therapy, they must reach beyond the loads of information already handed to them. Doctors must actively research the possibilities of hyperbarics to know of the many benefits it provides, and too often, our physicians are too busy treating patients to reach out and seek new possibilities; those physicians who have, however, endorse hyperbarics.

Who Cannot Have HBOT?

There are a few conditions in which some may not be able to undergo HBOT. If the patient has certain types of lung damage, hyperbaric oxygen therapy may not be a suitable treatment. Certain medications will also preclude some from hyperbaric oxygen treatment.

Diabetics are required to take a blood test before each hyperbaric treatment. If the blood sugar level is too low, the patient will not be permitted to undergo treatment until the level is raised. These conditions are for the overall wellness of the patient.

What Does It Feel Like When In The Chamber?

During hyperbaric treatment, one feels comfortable as though he or she were at atmospheric pressure. Patients feel as though they were not even in the chamber. While the chamber is changing pressures, one experiences the same effects of pressure change while ascending or descending in an airplane. It is very normal to feel pressure changes in your ears on ascent and descent, but it is not common to feel pain. A few patients may while most will not. However, the most important area to focus on is to communicate with patients (eye contact, asking for confirmation via hand signal, etc.) frequently. A good practice is to monitor patients every 5-10 minutes with patients and perhaps, longer or as you deem necessary for those who are used to hyperbaric sessions).
