Frequently asked questions

What does red light therapy do?

Red light therapy uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light. It is a popular wellness service, and many guests use it as part of a skin-care or recovery routine because it feels warm, simple and relaxing. Results vary from person to person, and we are careful not to overpromise. See it in action on our red light therapy overview, which includes a full demonstration video.

Where can I get red light therapy near St. Paul?

You can find us at 410 Little Canada Rd E in Little Canada, a short drive from St. Paul, Roseville, Maplewood, Shoreview and White Bear Lake. Red light therapy is part of our spa and rejuvenation services, and you can easily pair it with the far infrared sauna or a facial during the same visit. Pick a time on our booking page.

How long is a red light therapy session?

Red light therapy is one of our shorter Refresh services, so it fits nicely before work, on a lunch break or alongside another treatment. Your session length is set according to the equipment guidelines, and our team will get you started and answer questions. Please see our booking page for current session options and times.

How often should you do red light therapy to see results?

Consistency tends to matter more than long sessions. Many guests choose a regular rhythm of a few visits per week for a period of time, then settle into a maintenance schedule. Everyone is different, and results are not guaranteed. A free 15-minute wellness consultation is a great way to plan a schedule. Members enjoy discounts and priority booking; see memberships.

Is red light therapy safe? Do I need eye protection?

Red light therapy is generally well tolerated, and the light is not the same as UV tanning light. Bright light can be uncomfortable for the eyes, so we recommend protecting them during your session; ask our team about eye coverings. Let us know if you have light sensitivity, migraines triggered by light or any eye conditions so we can help you stay comfortable.

Who should not use red light therapy?

Please talk with your doctor before booking if you take photosensitizing medications (some antibiotics, acne medications and others), are pregnant, have a history of skin cancer or suspicious skin spots, or have a condition that makes you sensitive to light. Tell us about any recent cosmetic procedures, too. When in doubt, skip the session and check first.

What are the side effects of red light therapy?

Most guests feel nothing more than gentle warmth. Some notice mild temporary redness, warmth or dryness of the skin, or eye strain if the eyes are not covered. If anything feels uncomfortable, end the session and tell our staff. Starting with shorter, regular sessions is a sensible way to see how your skin responds.

What do you wear during red light therapy?

Wear as little or as much as you are comfortable with in our private space. Light needs to reach the skin, so many guests choose a swimsuit or undergarments. Come with clean skin and no heavy makeup, sunscreen or lotion on the areas you want exposed. Remove jewelry, and bring a water bottle if you plan to add the sauna.

Can you do red light therapy and an infrared sauna on the same day?

Yes. It is one of our most popular combinations. Both are included in the $100 Sample Therapy Package, which lets you choose any four of Lipo Laser, AVACEN, VibraSonic, Power Plate, Red Light Therapy and Infrared Sauna. See the details on our daily deals page and read our infrared sauna FAQ for sauna tips.

How much does a red light therapy session cost?

Please see current red light pricing on our booking page. The best way to try it is the $100 Sample Therapy Package: pick any four services from Lipo Laser, AVACEN, VibraSonic, Power Plate, Red Light Therapy and Infrared Sauna. If you plan to come often, our memberships (Bronze $99, Silver $249, Gold $399 per month) include member discounts and priority booking.
