Craniosacral Therapy FAQ: Little Canada & St. Paul

Healing Within Wellness Center · Little Canada, MN

Many guests come to us looking for craniosacral therapy in St. Paul because they want something slower and quieter than a typical massage. Craniosacral work uses a very light, hands-on touch around the head, spine and sacrum, inviting your body to settle and your breathing to soften.

On this page we share what a session involves, what it may feel like, who should check with a physician first and how it fits into our body alignment services. We're happy to answer anything else in person.

Frequently asked questions

What is craniosacral therapy?

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on relaxation technique. A practitioner uses very light touch, often about the weight of a nickel, around the head, neck, spine and sacrum. The goal is to help you feel deeply at ease and more connected to your body. It's one of our body alignment services. CST is complementary and not a substitute for medical care, and research on it is limited and mixed.

What does craniosacral therapy feel like?

Most guests describe it as surprisingly subtle and calming. You'll rest fully clothed on a comfortable table while your practitioner holds gentle contact at different points. Some people notice warmth, tingling or a sense of release; others simply drift into a restful, almost sleepy state. Both are normal. You're welcome to talk or stay quiet, and you can ask for a pause or adjustment at any point during your session.

What should I wear to craniosacral therapy near St. Paul?

Wear soft, comfortable clothing you can relax in, such as leggings or joggers and a loose top. You'll stay clothed the whole time. Skip belts, bulky jewelry and hair clips at the back of the head so you can lie flat comfortably. Arrive a few minutes early to settle in at our Little Canada center, an easy drive from St. Paul, Roseville and Vadnais Heights. Book through our booking page.

How is craniosacral therapy different from massage?

A massage typically uses kneading and pressure to work through muscle tension. Craniosacral therapy uses very light, still touch and focuses on helping the whole body relax rather than working specific muscles. Many guests choose CST when they want something quiet and gentle. If you prefer hands-on lymphatic work with more movement, take a look at Endermologie, another service on our body alignment menu.

Is craniosacral therapy safe?

For most people, CST is very gentle. Please check with your physician first if you've had a recent head injury or concussion, a brain bleed or aneurysm, known issues with pressure inside the skull, a recent spinal or skull surgery or a bleeding disorder, and let us know if you're pregnant. Always check with your physician to see if a service is right for you, and share any changes in your health at check-in.

How many craniosacral sessions do you need?

There's no fixed number. Some guests enjoy a single session as a calming reset, while others prefer a short series, perhaps weekly or every other week, to build a relaxing routine. Pay attention to how you feel afterward and adjust from there. If you'd like help planning, book our free 15-minute wellness consultation on our booking page, or explore our 5-Phase Wellness Journey.

How do you feel after craniosacral therapy?

Many guests say they feel calm, a little sleepy or simply lighter after a session. Some notice emotions surfacing, which can be a normal part of slowing down. Give yourself a gentle rest of the day if you can: sip water, avoid rushing and notice how you sleep that night. If anything feels unusual or doesn't settle, contact your physician and let our team know so we can adjust next time.

Is craniosacral therapy evidence-based?

Scientific research on craniosacral therapy is limited and the findings are mixed, so we don't make claims about it addressing any specific condition. We offer it as a gentle, hands-on relaxation practice that many guests find soothing. It is complementary, not a substitute for medical or mental-health care. Our practitioners are not licensed medical providers, and we share the Minnesota Client Bill of Rights before your first session.

How much does craniosacral therapy cost in the Twin Cities?

Please see current pricing and session options on our booking page, since rates can change. If you plan to visit regularly, a wellness membership offers member discounts and priority booking. We accept HSA payments; whether a specific service qualifies depends on your plan, so check with your plan administrator. Questions? Call our Little Canada front desk at (651) 490-3347.
